This is how the housing cooperative wants to encourage timely payments. An unusual idea
Instead of threatening interest for non-payment, the Ursynów housing cooperative offers a reward for paying the rent on time.
Poles’ reluctance towards housing cooperatives is widely known. Tenants are irritated, for example, by the fact that cooperative authorities often act in a non-transparent way and few people feel that they have a real influence on decisions. In such a situation, frequent increases in fees, including the most important one, are particularly frustrating.
The housing association offers rewards for on-time payments
However, there are ideas from the cooperative that may be welcomed. This is the case of the “Jary” cooperative in Ursynów, which was the first to offer residents the benefits of regular rent payments. The local portal haloursynow.pl writes about a rather unusual proposal.
Instead of threatening interest for non-payment, “Jary” offers a reward for paying the rent on time. The cooperative’s authorities do not hide the fact that, on the one hand, it is about appreciating tenants who always pay on time, but also about motivating those who are late with their payments.
– Our goal is to mobilize those who are late in paying their fees. We want to motivate them to pay their debts on time, and at the same time reward people who pay on time throughout the year – says Sabina Kazieczko, deputy president of SMB “Jary”, in an interview with the website.
What will all this look like in practice? Residents are to be identified only by an anonymous ID number and registration should be done independently. The cooperative will only send periodic reports with information on whether a given ID number made the payment on time. On this basis, points are transferred to the tenant’s account. The collected profits can be exchanged for discount coupons from trading partners, and can also be used in the official store of the Multikorzyści campaign.
– The collected points can be exchanged for discounts with local entrepreneurs, including our tenants running hairdressing salons, beauty salons and small shops. – explains the representative of the cooperative.
Thanks to this, the entire system of benefits can be confined to the Ursynów estate and local entrepreneurs will gain support.
Interestingly, the “Jary” housing cooperative cannot complain about the large group of unreliable payers. According to haloursynow, the debt ratio here is only 3 percent, while the nationwide average reaches 8 percent.
