The first week with lower fuel prices at stations is behind us. Experts predict what drivers can expect after the holidays.

At the beginning of this week, the government package called “Fuel Prices Lower” (CPN) came into force. The new regulations have translated into significant reductions in fuel prices at stations (the exception is autogas, which has been excluded from government support for now). e-petrol.pl experts point out that although government intervention in the fuel market is intended to provide relief to those who refuel, without improving the security situation in the Middle East, high prices may quickly return to gas stations.

Analysts point out that the wholesale price lists of fuel producers have been dominated by increases in recent days. In the case of gasoline, the scale of changes is not large yet and the current average price of the 95-octane version of this fuel, which is currently PLN 5,449.80/cubic meter, is clearly lower than at the end of last week thanks to the reduced excise tax rate. The difference is PLN 161. The situation is worse for diesel fuel. There is no trace of the excise tax reduction here, and the current average price of diesel in refineries, which amounts to PLN 6,987.80/cubic meter, is already PLN 118 higher than a week earlier.

What was the situation at stations like this week? Lower prices at gas stations appeared on Tuesday, when the maximum fuel prices announced by the Ministry of Energy came into force for the first time.

According to e-petrol.pl, 95-octane gasoline cost on average PLN 6.16 in Poland on Wednesday and was 98 groszy cheaper than a week ago. Diesel oil became cheaper by PLN 1.15 and cost PLN 7.54/l. Only the prices of autogas, which were excluded from government support, went up. LPG prices at stations increased by 5 cents to PLN 3.69/l – e-petrol experts calculate.

Analysts point out that most stations adjust their price lists to the levels presented in the announcement of the Ministry of Energy, but there are also facilities that offer rates that are more attractive to drivers.
