On Friday, the Central Statistical Office (GUS) presented data on the average salary in the national economy in the third quarter of this year.

It turns out that the average salary in the period July-September was PLN 8,000. PLN 771.7 gross, which means an increase of 7.5%. year to year, and quarter to quarter, wages increased by 0.3%.

Let us remind you that in the second quarter of this year the average salary was PLN 8,000. PLN 748.63 gross and it was an increase of 8.8%. in relation to the second quarter of 2024.

In September alone, the average gross salary in the enterprise sector amounted to PLN 8,750.34 gross. This is an increase of 7.5%. compared to the same period last year.

As Business Insider Polska notes, today’s data – unlike those presented monthly – cover a much wider range of employees. We are talking about those working in the national economy, and not only in companies employing at least 10 people. The Central Statistical Office includes all full-time employees, regardless of the size of the employing company. This means that micro-enterprises are also taken into account, where wages are generally much lower.

Median wages well below average wages

This week, the Central Statistical Office also reported that the median salary in Poland was PLN 7,082 gross in May. – In May 2025, the median gross monthly salary in the national economy amounted to PLN 7,082.00 and was 18.4% lower than the average gross monthly salary (PLN 8,678.90). – the Central Statistical Office reported on Wednesday.

The median salary of PLN 7,082 means that in May this year half of the employees were paid remuneration no higher than this amount, and the other half received remuneration no lower. A month earlier, the median monthly salary was PLN 7,262, i.e. almost PLN 200 more. This amount was 20.6 percent. lower than the average monthly gross salary (then PLN 9,148.11).
