This is how much money retirees will receive in 2025. There are preliminary calculations
In March, benefits for retirees and pensioners will be indexed. Not only monthly benefits will increase, but also the 13th and 14th pensions.
At the beginning of March, pensioners’ benefits will be indexed. Indexation is a statutory obligation: it involves multiplying the amount of the benefit and the basis for its assessment by the indexation index. This measure is aimed at adapting pensions to current economic conditions in order to prevent the loss of their real value. As a result of the indexation, the amount of the benefit cannot be reduced.
Record pension indexation is behind us
The record year in this respect was 2023, when benefits increased by as much as 14.8 percent. In March this year, benefits were increased by 12.12%. On the other hand, it was not a reason to be happy, because the high indexation is the result of high inflation, i.e. price increases year to year. When inflation is low (and we all want it to be), indexation is much lower.
The government estimates that next year the indexation will amount to 5.52%.
If these assumptions are confirmed, in March the lowest pensions will increase from the current PLN 1,780.96 gross to the forecast PLN 1,879.27 gross. The net pension after deducting contributions and tax will amount to approximately PLN 1,730-1,750 – i.e. the increase will amount to PLN 90-100 net per month. For comparison, as a result of indexation in 2024, pensions increased on average by PLN 192.52 gross.
13th and 14th retirement in 2025
It is forecast that with a minimum pension of PLN 1,879.27 gross and net, seniors can expect additional pensions, i.e. age 13 and 14, in the amount of approximately PLN 1,730-1,750, depending on individual deductions. In the case of the latter benefit (paid in autumn), only retirees whose pension does not exceed a certain level can expect full payment. In 2024 it was PLN 2,900 gross. The benefit will be gradually reduced for people receiving higher pensions, and the minimum amount of the fourteenth pension must be at least PLN 50 to be paid. Therefore, it is not a universal benefit because it does not cover all seniors.
13th and 14th pension paid ex officio
Additional benefits are always paid ex officio, which means that you do not need to submit any application in this matter. 14. the pension will be subject to taxation and contributions under general rules, regardless of whether it is paid in conjunction with a taxable or tax-exempt benefit. Importantly, no deductions or enforcement will be made from the amount of the next additional annual cash benefit.
