This housing estate in Warsaw was a nuisance of the inhabitants. Now it’s quite extinct

Osiedle Dudziarska

There is no shortage of abandoned places all over Poland. Among them there are many old and damaged buildings, including monuments. There are also housing estates on the list. One of them draws the attention of Warsaw residents.

I am talking about the Dudziarska estate also called Kozia Górka, created in the Praga Południe district just around Olszynka Grochowska in 1993. Although it might seem that it will be teeming with life, today it is known that all local energy evaporated from there forever. This characteristic point of Warsaw evokes a lot of emotions.

Abandoned housing estate in Warsaw

The mentioned estate is actually a complex of three social blocks at ul. Dudziarska 40, 40a, 40b. They were built for evicted families, including from Śródmieście. Some of the premises were also to be lived by employees of ordering services, e.g. policemen. The whole plan took place under many agreements of city officials, but it did not bring the expected results.

Blocks at ul. Dudziarska from the beginning aroused controversy, including That they were built in an almost empty field without proper infrastructure and opposite the garbage incineration. It was feared that mainly a ghetto of people with life problems would be created there and so it happened. Citizens who came there only because of financial difficulties, often with children, suffered the most. Once in TVN TV reports, they described life there as hell.

Seemingly, the place was made to look good, in the area, among others Playground, and later a city bus was also directed there. However, this did not mean that tenants lived better. People transferred to local blocks did not have hot water or central heating. Problems with access to public transport or shops also played an important role.

Today, after all, there are memories. The Warsaw housing estate is empty, and only skeletons available to some of the elements available there. Windows and doors in buildings have been walled up to avoid the so -called wild tenants. This place began to be excluded from use in 2015. The last residents officially disappeared in 2019.

What happens to the abandoned estate?

The Dudziarska estate quickly gained the title of the worst in the capital. For years, voices have been heard about plans to demolish local blocks. It is already known that on August 28, 2024, a resolution of the Praga-Południe District Board was adopted, according to which consent to the demolition of real estate was agreed. It was noted that … they do not fulfill residential functions.

The city authorities note that the demolition process is to be very expensive – it would exceed a million zlotys – for this reason it is not known when it will be possible to demolish. Today, there is no shortage of nomadic homeless people in the area, and the place only scares Warsaw residents.
