This duo of the Polish national team is the future. “Beautiful pearls hit us”
There is no doubt that Maksymilian Granieczny and Jakub Nowak hit the Polish volleyball team. Piotr Gruszka spoke for their talent for “Wprost”.
The Polish volleyball team since 2006, when she reached for the runner -up in the world, walks a certain step from success to success. These latest achievements are the Olympic runner -up (2024), European championship (2023) or regularly reach for medals in the next seasons of the League of Nations. The last two are bronze (2024) and gold (2023) in VNL – Poland is the most successful team in the history of the competition.

It is important, however, to look not only at what was here and now – but for the future. Successive generations of volleyballers that can give new successes. Coach Nikola Grbić this season began building in the new Olympic cycle, with a view to what will happen during the IO in Los Angeles (2028).
The two biggest discoveries for the national team? Libero Maksymilian Granieczny and Middle Jakub Nowak. The first is 2005, since the new season, JSW JSW Jastrzębski Węgiel. In the case of Nowak, we are talking about the same year of birth (2005) – and Norwid Częstochowa will be the new place of the middle game.
We asked Piotr Gruszka, the legend of the Polish national team, currently an expert and commentator Polsat Sport about these two. Specifically, which of the Two Gryanie-Nowak is endowed with greater talent.
– Large, really big talents. It seems to me that through observations in PlusLiga, in many matches, I would bet to the max. Gryany has things that you just have and will not be trained. It has a lot of such natural talent (…) Maks is really phenomenal. We have two great talents, everyone has something unusual, natural in themselves. Kuba Nowak has movement and arrangement of his hand in a block of flats. It all happens as it should. Now it can only rise higher. He will probably have matters such as changes in directions, and he will catch the experience from the field, which will raise in the national team and soon in PlusLiga. Instead, Maks Granieczny enters the pitch and just stands where the ball should be. It is. Very often the work of a libero in defense, it is not just a matter of tactics that we open the direction to someone straight and will go there. This is often the “reading” of the opponent’s intentions, which characterizes the largest libero. They had it and it also has it. And each subsequent season will be a confirmation and maturation in this position of Maks – admitted Gruszka in an interview for “Wprost”.
Interestingly, Nowak won a place in the initial composition of the senior national team in the 2025 season. He creates a duo with the current team captain Jakub Kochanowski.
– Beautiful pearls hit us in volleyball, Kuba Nowak and Maks Graniczny. And here I have absolutely no contraindications that they should play in the national team. It is not that there is a magical age where you can start playing in the initial team of national team. And earlier “young wait because you have to wait.” None of this. If someone has such an unusual, such talent, then simply regardless of age, having quality and talent, can play and support the Polish Senior Team – the pear said, appreciating the scale of talent of both players.
Therefore, it seems that Polish volleyball in a male edition can sleep peacefully. Another important names give hope that the system created years ago, just when the teams reached after success, including With a quoted pear in the composition, it will work well. And such talents as Nowak or Granieczny only confirm this.
