This city by the sea will be a hit of a picnic. “Almost 100 % occupancy”
Picnic for many people is the first opportunity to travel in warm months. Where will Poles relax on the following days? The tourism industry has noticed great interest in seaside towns, not only among national tourists.
The PBS study commissioned by the Polish Tourist Organization shows that less than half of Poles (43 percent) will go on a picnic on May 1-4 or around this term. National trips will choose 21 percent respondents, and foreign 7 percent.
We asked a representative of the Sun & Snow group, offering apartments for rent in cities and resorts about which places will be very popular.
City Break at the seaside in Poland
– Majówka is the opening of the summer season for tourists and the entire accommodation industry – says Mariola Skorupa, Sun & Snow sales and marketing director, short -term rental operator. The reservations show that the first days of May attract primarily to the sea.
– After winter, everyone wants to catch some breath, so the coast and coastal towns are the most popular. Gdańsk is popular throughout the year, but especially in the picnic. I think that not only we noticed almost 100 % occupancy in facilities in this city on the coming days – the representative of the accommodation base pointed out.
A meeting in Pomerania from abroad will be very likely, including from the Czech Republic.
– Gdańsk is popular among Poles and among Czech clients. For 2-3 years, an increase in interest in this coastal city in the Czech market has been visible, and from the end of last year our neighbors can already get to the Polish Baltic Express Sea. Good road, rail and air communication means that this city is becoming a good choice for a short City Break, also for the inhabitants of Western Europe, e.g. Amsterdam or Berlin – says Sun & Snow sales and marketing director.
Start of the season in cities on the Baltic Sea
Mariola Skorupa notes that foreign tourists are also eager to choose Świnoujście, Kołobrzeg and Międzyzdroje, i.e. cities with promenades that allow them to combine urban entertainment with the closeness of the sea. There, gastronomic and entertainment premises start the summer season in the picnic, and restaurateurs open gardens.
– In small towns like Mrzeżyno or Grzybowo, a tourist base often starts not at the beginning of May, but closer to summer. This can be a value for people looking for peace – notes Sun & Snow representative.
In the mountains, the interest of tourists will be divided between various places.
Zakopane outside the top five
– In the south we didn’t notice the direction that reigns. Looking at our portfolio, we see that interest in mountain towns is evenly distributed, between Zakopane, Białka Tatrzańska and Karpacz – says Mariola Skorupa.
What are the preferences of tourists who choose hotels instead of short -term rental? There are some similarities. The data from Profitroom (providers of direct reservation technology) shows that the most reservations for the picnic were made by tourists in Kołobrzeg, Szklarska Poręba, Gdańsk, Krakow and Warsaw. “It is worth paying attention to the important, as much as a 31 % increase in reservations in Krakow and 64 % in Warsaw, which can confirm the meaning of City Break as a form of rest during the May weekend,” we read in the report. Just behind the main five, among others Zakopane, Karpacz, Krynica-Zdrój and Mielno.
