This beautiful village is worth visiting on the weekend. It hides an exceptionally old attraction
From Pomerania to Silesia you can look for unique attractions and villages. Some of them win the hearts of travel lovers and seekers of non-obvious destinations. Jeżów may be one of them.
Although it has something in common with hedgehogs only in name, it is still charming, intimate and deserves attention. We mean the village, or more precisely, part of the village of Wilczyska in Lesser Poland. It houses a monument that attracts fans of history and even architecture. For a famous noble family, it was a pearl of great value. Today it is still impressive.
This village hides a treasure
In Jeżów in Wilczyska you will find one of the oldest fortified manors in Lesser Poland. It was built in the Renaissance style and is considered an exceptionally well-preserved structure of this type.
As for the village itself, the first mention of it comes from 1384. At that time, it belonged to the famous Jeżowski family of the Strzemię coat of arms. It was these inhabitants who initiated the construction of the manor in the second half of the 15th century. There is no exact information about the builder – it is suspected that he could also have been Klemens Turski. Over the years, the building changed and became a kind of villa surrounded by beautiful nature.
You can see what the facility looks like, among others: on social media, although it is gray, it intrigues with its interesting shape. Its characteristic feature is the corner oval tower, but the hip roof covered with shingles is also noteworthy. Inside, a fireplace and late Renaissance polychromes from the 17th century have been preserved, depicting Saints Florian and Wawrzyniec and a view of Jeżów.
Interestingly, the building is still used and serves as a home for creative work, among others. for the High School of Fine Arts in Tarnów. It is also open to visitors.

It is worth going to Jeżów to see this historic building, but also for the beautiful surroundings, perfect for walks. There you will rest among greenery and peace. The manor house is surrounded by a park, next to it you can also find a former wooden farm building and a well. Moreover, the whole of Wilczyska is perfect for discovering the nearby attractions of the Low Beskids.
How to get there? Don’t confuse Jeżów in Małopolska with a village in the province. Łódź! The one mentioned here is quite close to Krakow – it is approximately 112 km and 2 hours by car. It will be much closer to Tarnów or Nowy Sącz – even less than an hour’s drive. The manor is hidden in a thicket of ancient trees on a hill gently sloping towards the Biała River. The exact address is Jeżów 2, 33-121 Wilczyska.
