They won’t check your hand luggage here. A revolution in a well-known line

Lotnisko

American Airlines announced a real revolution. At the beginning of this week, it stopped measuring passengers’ luggage. These can get on board much faster.

Many people dream about the lack of popular sizers, i.e. luggage brands at airports, especially Wizz Air and Ryanair tourists. Recently, the Irish carrier has been closely monitoring whether travelers do not bring too much on the plane. Employees can even receive a bonus for catching someone with excess items. American Airlines, the largest airline in the world in terms of the number of passengers served, has a completely different policy.

This line says goodbye to sizers

Luggage measures almost always spell difficulties for tourists. They are often asked to put their suitcases or backpacks against them, and if it turns out that the bag extends beyond the permitted outline, they have to pay extra. This process increases boarding time and is very stressful. The American airline has shown that it can control travelers in a different way.

Effective October 6, 2025, all carry-on baggage measures located at American Airlines gates are unavailable. This does not mean that passengers do not have to worry about limits, but they can count on a much more friendly approach than before.

Revolution at American Airlines

The American giant in the aviation world not only removed sizers from its gates, but also introduced changes to its hand luggage policy. From now on, line rulers will only be available in the public areas of airports for information purposes.

American Airlines employees check travelers’ bags solely by visually assessing size, not by loading bags into gauges. In turn, passengers will pay additional fees only in the event of a gross violation of dimensions. “All kinds of doubts are to be considered in favor of passengers,” the airline’s representatives assure.

The aim of the changes is to speed up boarding. This is not the first airline in the world to decide to make such a move. United Airlines previously did this. At the moment it is not known whether the solution will work. It can be suspected that unless passengers begin to excessively use the new rules, they will remain in place for a long time. Who knows, maybe other carriers will follow suit in some time?
