They won against Biedronka. These data leave no illusions
Lidl boasts that in the 2023/24 financial year it improved its sales results by almost 14%. The report does not lack comparisons to its main competitor. According to the published data, Lidl is better than Biedronka, which of course was not forgotten to be noted.
The constant battle between Lidl and Biedronka is in full swing. We have all seen the ads for both brands, the main purpose of which is to inform customers who is better. The arguments take different forms. Some boast lower prices, while others claim that they are obviously cheaper.
The fight has also moved to social media, where customers are competing to argue the merits of the store they value more. For example, Biedronka will have a hard time peeling off the label of a store where you can come across pallets everywhere, cluttering up the shelves with goods.
Lidl’s good financial year
The retail chain defines the financial year as the period from March 2023 to February 2024. In the thicket of data, we can see an increase in sales revenue. The amount of PLN 37,932,349 (domestic sales plus export) is higher than in the same period of the previous financial year. Then, revenues amounted to PLN 33,335,801.
The number of full-time positions also increased over the year, and the average salary increased by 15 percent.
“We are better”
In a press release, Lidl reported that “in the fourth quarter of 2023 and the first and second quarter of 2024, Lidl Polska’s turnover is growing much faster than that of its main competitor. Lidl Polska achieved a like-for-like turnover increase of over 2 percent, while Biedronka recorded a decrease of 4.60 percent.”
Will new hires help maintain growth trends?
Lidl has also launched a recruitment campaign. It intends to employ over a thousand people in stores and warehouses. The campaign slogan is: “Sure job. For years. For years.” The retail chain also publishes salary ranges in its job offers, in line with the new trend on the labor market.
