A large avalanche has gone down in the Val-Cenis region in the French Alps. Snow kidnapped seven tourists from Norway. Three of them lost their lives.
Two weeks after the last tragedy in France, another avalanche went down in the Alps. On Wednesday, around 16:30 near the Val-Cenis ski resort, he snowed with him seven cross-country skiers from Norway. Four people were under snow. Of these, only one was saved – a woman is currently in a hospital in a state of deep hypothermia. The avalanche went down in an area not intended for tourists. The skiers moved outside the official trails.
A tragedy in the French Alps
The number of victims is growing after the avalanche descent in southwestern France. After on Tuesday, January 28, the body of a 55-year-old Englishman was found in the Upper Sabaudia region, and a thirty-year-old Swiss was killed near Mont Blanc, the Alps collected another fatal harvest. With this avalanche, there were seven cross-country skiers from Norway, who moved outside the designated routes near the popular Val-Cuelis ski resort. However, they were experienced tourists, equipped with, among others in avalanche detectors.
As a result of the disaster, three people were killed, and one was hospitalized in a state of deep hypothermia. The woman had, among others Cardiac arrest and breath. The other four skiers were not seriously injured.
WARNINGS FOR Tourists
In connection with recent events, the administration of the region asked tourists for prudence. “Prefect calls for the greatest caution and responsibility, which if necessary may include the possibility of renouncing to enter into dangerous or too uncertain trails,” said the message.
The first step before going to the mountains should always be to check the current weather conditions, including the probability of avalanche. The absolute minimum that increases safety in the mountains is having so -called avalanche ABC. The kit includes an electronic detector, probe and snow blade.
