The tourists were following the marked trail when a wild animal suddenly stood in their way. The recording shows that they did not behave as they should have.
Hiking in the mountains involves certain dangers. It’s not only beautiful views, shelters and an interesting way to spend your free time, but also contact with nature, which can be unpredictable. Representatives of national parks have been calling on tourists to be careful for years, but not everyone follows the rules. The recording from the Tatra Mountains published online on September 16 is proof of this.
This is how tourists behaved in the Tatra Mountains
This is a video published, among others, on the “Tatry” Facebook profile. It shows a group of tourists walking along a rocky path, but at some point they notice a deer standing on it. These people, instead of stopping, remaining calm and waiting for the animal to disappear into the bushes, start attacking it with their backpacks, try to pass by it and approach it at a dangerous distance.
The incident took place in the High Tatras on the Slovak side, in the Prešov region. The meeting ends with a deer attempting to attack one of the men. However, it was quite mild, so nothing happened to the tourists. Only after the warning did the group decide to retreat, but they continued to wave their arms, showing a reprehensible attitude. The situation was made even more dramatic by the fact that there were also children among the tourists.
The authors of the publication appealed to others to treat nature with due respect. “Sometimes you just need to wait a few minutes,” we read. Internet users immediately started responding.

Recordings or photos from the Tatra Mountains published on social media almost always engage Internet users in discussions. Their opinions are often divided, and that’s what happened this time. When the authors of the post wrote that the mountains are the natural home of wild animals and that they are at home, some made it clear that they did not agree with this statement. “No, we are not just guests there, the mountains are just as much ours. I don’t know where the idea for this slogan comes from,” “The paths were made for people, not animals,” we read in the comments section.
It is easy to see, however, that most people were critical of the behavior of tourists in the film. “People have something in their heads”, “Would you also like to chase a bear off the trail? No respect for the mountains and the animals living there”, “And why are you hitting him with that backpack, you idiot? He’s at home! And you’re an intruder!” – we read.
