A dramatic event occurred in the Tatra Mountains. Two tourists lost their orientation by entering into dangerous regions. TOPR intervention was necessary.
According to rescuers’ accounts, two tourists probably lost the trail in the Tatra Mountains. Then, trying to find him, they aimed at more and more difficult parties. According to unofficial reports, they were not to have the right equipment with them.

TOPR rescuers after receiving a notification from tourists immediately went to the scene of the incident. There they discovered that one of the wanderers was wounded because he damaged his leg in Piekiełek near Giewont.
Rescuers quickly noticed that the health problems of one of the tourists are not the only problems that they had to deal with while trying to return to the trail. A helicopter was used in the rescue operation.
– Two men clogged between Zawrat and Little Kozim. They entered a place where they could not go. Of course, without equipment, without any knowledge. To the question: “Do you have crayfish and ice ax?”, They answered: “What is a ice ax?” It has not happened to me yet. As we are talking about equipment, tourists, although they know what it is, what it is used for – reported the rescuer on duty TOPR Krzysztof Długopolski.

TOPR rescuers warn against difficult conditions in the mountains. They point out that despite the fact that in many regions of the country the weather is conducive to physical activity, the aura in the mountains is still unpredictable. Even despite the temperature at the level of 16 degrees Celsius at the foot of the mountains, in high parts this can still oscillate around zero.

They appeal to tourists to check the weather conditions before each exit to the mountains and take the right equipment with them. They add that hiking in the mountains in difficult weather conditions also requires appropriate skills and knowledge.
