They ask chatgpt to assess the appearance and advice. Innocent fun can have fatal effects

As a society, are we ready to entrust artificial intelligence decisions about how we should look and can we critically assess its recommendations?
Since the premiere at the end of 2022, Chatgpt has won over 500 million weekly users around the world. Initially, it was mainly used to write emails, preparing CV or planning meals. Today, however, more and more people discover for him new, unconventional use – e.g. as a merciless beauty advisor who has no qualms about to tell the truth about our appearance.
Phenomenon that social media conquers
In recent months, social media has flooded posts with hashtags #chatgptlowup and #aibeautyadvice. One of the films on Tiktoku, in which the user asks Chatgpt about metamorphosis recommendations, won over 220,000 views. Comments under such materials often contain sincere confessions-one of the users wrote: “Bot rated me at 5 on a scale of 1-10 and said that with the help of makeup and fillers I could come to seven.”
People send their photos to artificial intelligence massively, asking for a ruthless assessment of appearance and detailed plans to improve attractiveness. In response, BOT recommends specific products – from hair dye, through anti -wrinkle creams, to aesthetic medicine treatments such as botox or fillers.
Some users spend thousands of dollars, implementing these digital recommendations.
Psychology of digital honesty
The phenomenon of the popularity of chatgpt as a beauty advisor results from the fundamental need to receive honest opinions about our appearance. Unlike friends and family, who often avoid critical remarks for fear of injury to feelings, artificial intelligence does not have such emotional brakes.
Jessica Defino, a recognized critic of the cosmetics industry and author of the newsletter “Review of Beauty”, explains this phenomenon in the context of contemporary standards of beauty:
