These workers will get more money. Changes from April 1
From April 1, the amounts of one-off compensation for accidents at work or occupational diseases will increase. In the first half of 2025 alone, there were over 30,000. such accidents.
At the beginning of April, the amounts of one-off compensation for accidents at work or occupational diseases will increase by almost 9%. According to the announcement of the Minister of Family, Labor and Social Policy published in Monitor Polski, the new rates will be valid until the end of March next year.
Compensations will increase
According to pulshr.pl, in the case of permanent or long-term health damage, compensation for each percentage will increase from PLN 1,636 to PLN 1,781. In turn, the one-off benefit for people completely unable to work and requiring complete care will increase by PLN 2,526.
The amounts of one-off compensation for accidents at work or occupational diseases will, in accordance with the announcement, be:

PLN 1,781 for each percentage of permanent or long-term health impairment;

PLN 1,781 for each percentage of permanent or long-term health damage, due to an increase in this damage by at least 10 percentage points;

PLN 31,162 for the insured person’s total incapacity for work and inability to live independently;

PLN 31,162 for a judgment of total incapacity for work and inability to live independently due to the deterioration of the pensioner’s health condition;

PLN 160,264 if the spouse or child of the deceased insured person or pensioner is entitled to one-off compensation;

PLN 80,132 if a family member of the deceased insured person or pensioner other than the spouse or child is entitled to one-off compensation;
-
PLN 160,264 if the spouse and one or more children of the deceased insured person or pensioner are entitled to one-off compensation, and PLN 31,162 for increasing the compensation due to each of these children;

PLN 160,264 if two or more children of the deceased insured person or pensioner are entitled to one-off compensation, and PLN 31,162 for increasing this compensation for the second and each subsequent child;

PLN 31,162 if, apart from the spouse or children, other family members of the deceased insured person or pensioner are also entitled to one-off compensation, each of them regardless of the compensation due to the spouse or children;

PLN 80,132 if only family members other than the spouse or children of the deceased insured person or pensioner are entitled to one-off compensation, and PLN 31,162 for increasing this compensation for the second and each subsequent entitled person.
Over 30 thousand accidents at work
As data from the Central Statistical Office show, in the first half of last year alone there were over 30,000 cases in Poland. accidents at work. As a result of such accidents, 80 people died and 219 were seriously injured. Accidents also occurred during remote work, affecting 111 people.
The highest accident rate was recorded in mining and quarrying, water supply activities; sewage and waste management and reclamation, as well as in health care and social assistance.
The most common direct causes of accidents included hitting a stationary object (29.1% of accidents), as well as contact with a sharp, rough, hard or rough object, being hit by a moving object, or physical or mental strain on the employee (each of these events was responsible for 17-20% of accidents).
The highest accident rate was recorded in the Opole Voivodeship, as well as in the Silesian and Warmian-Masurian Voivodeships.
