These snacks will disappear from planes because of passenger safety
In just a few days, popular hot meals will disappear from airplanes. Ramen and instant noodles have proven to be too dangerous during turbulence.
The popular airline warned its passengers about the introduction of very important changes. From August 15, 2024, the sale and consumption of Chinese noodles and ramen will be prohibited on board Korean Air. The Asian noodle soup poured with boiling water was a popular snack for customers – especially among those who could not afford more expensive items on the menu. The new regulations are dictated by safety reasons.
New ban on planes
Is this the end of popular and quick Chinese soups, which tourists treated on board planes as a substitute for a full meal? It seems that ramen and other ready-made noodles, designed to be poured with boiling water, will be a thing of the past. Korean Air has introduced changes in this area for now, although other carriers may follow suit in the future. However, the ban, which will be in force from August 15 this year, is not about controlling the diet of passengers. It turns out that eating these snacks during a flight carries a significant risk.
Danger during turbulence
As Korean Air emphasizes, the health of its passengers is the most important thing for it. Using products doused with boiling water can be particularly dangerous during pilot maneuvers, as well as unexpected weather disruptions. “The decision is part of proactive safety measures in response to increased turbulence, aimed at preventing accidents related to scalding,” the airline said in an official statement. However, the Fly4free.pl website informs that the new rules will apply only to economy class. Passengers traveling on more expensive tickets (first and business class) will be able to order their favorite soups without any complications. The rest will have to make do with other hot snacks, including pizza, hot dogs and sandwiches.
