Perhaps not everyone knows, but in Poland there are several professions in which employees can count on a company apartment without having to pay a monthly rent. This includes: about soldiers and policemen.

To say that the current costs of renting an apartment are high is an understatement. In the case of some professions, however, you do not have to worry about this, because it is possible to access residential properties without having to pay a monthly rent. Bankier.pl reminds that the narrow group of professional groups that can count on a company apartment without paying for it include:

  • army,

  • Police,

  • border guard,

  • forest guard.

Just six years ago, the professions eligible for housing allowance included teachers working in rural areas and towns with a population of up to 5,000. inhabitants. Changes in this area were introduced by the amendment to the regulations, which entered into force in 2019.

Service apartments not only for soldiers and policemen

As Money.pl notes, the procedures for granting company housing may vary depending on the profession. Soldiers may live in the city where they serve or in the surrounding area. In a situation where it is not possible to allocate an apartment, the soldier is given a place in a boarding school or dormitory quarters. Another option is to pay housing benefit. Its amount depends on the garrison and ranges from PLN 450 to PLN 1,500 per month.

The situation is similar for police officers, but their allowance is only PLN 142.50 per month, and if they live with family – PLN 285. Border Guard officers can count on slightly higher support – from PLN 238 to PLN 450.

Employees of the State Forests who belong to the Forest Service can also count on free mixing. The condition for obtaining free housing is employment as a forester or forester. Employees who are spouses and who live in the same household, in the event of overlapping rights, are jointly granted one free apartment or one cash equivalent.
