These planes can change everything. Poland is preparing a billion-dollar purchase

Francuski A330MRTT

After a decade, Poland is returning to the project it abandoned. In the coming weeks, a contract may be signed for four Airbus A330MRTT+ aircraft, which will not only refuel dozens of fighters in the air, but also serve as transporters, flying hospitals and command platforms.

In July 2016, Antoni Macierewicz, then Minister of National Defense, decided to withdraw Poland from the European MMF program, the aim of which was to purchase a fleet of multi-role Airbus A330MRTT air refueling aircraft for a group of European NATO countries. For many, it was one of the minister’s worst decisions. Ten years later, we are one step away from signing a contract for the purchase of four machines of this type. Is it an unnecessary “gadget” or a necessary element of the Air Force?
