These data say it all. Things haven’t been this bad for Poles in 96 years.
On Tuesday, Nikola Horovska did not advance to the long jump final at the Paris Olympics. This completed an unusual statistical fact.
The Olympic Games in Paris are not going well for Polish athletes so far. The Polish team has four medals. Julia Szeremeta also has a certain medal, although we don’t know the color yet. The track and field athletes have not added to this achievement yet. We were counting on a podium for Paweł Fajdek or Wojciech Nowicki in the hammer throw, but in the end the gentlemen finished outside the top three.
Poor situation in jumping
It is possible that Polish fans do not even have to worry as much about the lack of medals as about the places taken by some athletes. For example, none of our pole vaulters qualified for the Olympic finals. Here, we were counting primarily on Piotr Lisek. In addition, there are problems in other jumping competitions. On Tuesday, Nikola Horowska did not advance to the long jump finals, achieving a result of 6.31 m. This completes one athletics statistic that shows how bad things are.
“All Polish athletes in ski jumping were eliminated in the qualifying rounds of the Games – the last time such a situation occurred was 96 years ago (in 1928 Zdzisław Nowak took 33rd place in the long jump with a result of 6.57)” – we read on the “Athletics News” profile on the X platform.
Few medal hopes of Poles
In terms of technical events, Tuesday evening will feature the women’s hammer throw, where Anita Włodarczyk is defending her Olympic gold. Any throw by our experienced champion would be a great success.
A little while longer and Maria Andrejczyk will also be ready for the Olympic start. Our javelin thrower will be the second candidate to save Poland’s honor in technical track and field events. When it comes to track and field in general, of course Natalia Kaczmarek has the best chance of reaching the podium in the 400-meter race. Her potential competition in the final will take place on Friday evening.
