These are unusual prohibitions in force on the Baltic Sea. This is not allowed
In the summer, we go to the seaside en masse. We explore various places, but do we know the rules that apply there? It turns out that there are many astonishing prohibitions.
Prohibitions on the Baltic Sea, of course, exist. While sometimes it’s about the simplest rules, such as relieving yourself in the sea or not approaching breakwaters, other times it’s about less typical matters. What do you need to remember? We’ve made a special list.
Prohibitions on the Baltic Sea
Prohibitions on the Baltic Sea are introduced by apartment owners and city offices. One of the important ones involves frying fish in your apartments.. Often, this is not allowed and we can pay dearly for it. For breaking the rules, owners of facilities charge penalties, among others in Łeba, Władysławowo or Jastarnia – we can get a fine of PLN 600. In Mielno, the fine is up to PLN 2,000. There are places where it does not end with fishing. For example In Pobierowo it is completely impossible to prepare meals yourself in hotels or rooms.
These are not the only prohibitions on the Baltic Sea. The regulations for accommodation in Ustronie Morskie include, among others: a ban on wearing high-heeled shoes, as well as an absolute ban on smoking. All to avoid noise and unpleasant odors.
In addition in Poland you also have to remember about the ban on camping on the beach. You can only sleep in a tent in designated places. Campsites and campgrounds are the best. If you pitch a tent on the beach, you may be punished. The exceptions are situations when interested tourists send an individual request to the selected Maritime Office, which is responsible for Polish beaches. Sometimes you can receive a positive decision. It is worth emphasizing, however, that you can legally sleep on the beach on a blanket or in a sleeping bag.
Bans on the Baltic Sea. Fines are high
It should be remembered that the fines for the previously mentioned violations of the rules can be really high. For example, a tent erected without permission will cost you up to PLN 500. Instead of risking paying a fine of several hundred zlotys on the beach or in a hotel for preparing a meal, it is better to spend this money in a restaurant. It should be remembered that ignorance of the regulations does not exempt us from complying with them. Before going to a given place, it is best to familiarize yourself thoroughly with the rules that apply there. This applies not only to Poland, but also abroad.
