These are the most popular mountain trails in the world. They will reign in 2026

Trips to the mountains are so popular that it was decided to create a ranking of the best trails for 2026. Tourists will go there both in and out of season. This trend is gaining momentum.

We are talking about a trend revealed by the Skyscanner platform “At the height”. It shows that tourists from Poland are increasingly going to the mountains outside the winter season. It is easy to conclude that what counts for them is not only skiing or snowboarding, but also walking on trails and climbing. “As many as 80 percent of Polish travelers are also considering mountain trips in spring and autumn,” we read in the press material of the travel and booking platform.

Poles love the mountains outside the season

OnePoll research conducted for the Skyscanner platform shows that we are increasingly choosing the highlands not only for the slopes, but above all for peace and contact with nature. The key motivations for such expeditions were explored.

Outside the winter season in the mountains, we appreciate peace and quiet (60%), picturesque hikes and lakes (54%), as well as clean air and pleasantly cooler weather (50%).

In the spring and autumn of 2026, Poles plan to take advantage of various activities. Hiking came first (40%), followed by observing wildlife (34%) and other mountain activities (23%), such as cycling or swimming surrounded by wild nature.

This trend does not mean that interest in the mountains in winter is decreasing. “Poles love the mountains all year round – planning trips both locally and abroad.” – we read in the press material.

The most popular mountain trails for 2026

The list of proposed places includes many pearls from outside Europe, but there are also many from our continent. Importantly, we can easily fly to each of these places from Poland.

Skyscanner and AllTrails, a platform for discovering tourist routes, are responsible for selecting the trails – they connect a community of over 80 million users with nature. The most popular were:

  • Rob Roy Glacier Trail, New Zealand

  • Mauthe Cathedral Cove Trail, New Zealand

  • Palm Jungle Loop, Australia

  • Montaña Siete Colores by Llacto Cancha, Peru

  • Cinco Hermanos Lagoon, Argentina

  • Loop through Alma and Redwood Springs, United States

  • Sulfur Skyline Trail, Canada
