There is a decision regarding Iga Świątek’s performance! Dramatic news from Spain
As expected, Wednesday’s match between Spain and Poland in the Billie Jean King Cup final was postponed.
All because of the difficult situation in Malaga, where the final representative game of the tennis players is to take place. Local authorities are afraid of large floods, similar to those in Valencia and the surrounding area.
For now, the Spain-Poland match has been postponed to Friday (November 15) at 10:00. The information appeared on social media, provided by the captain of the Polish national team, Dawid Celt
As the coach of the Polish team himself stated, the postponement to Friday is an arrangement “for now”. It is difficult to say clearly what the organizers will do next.
Billie Jean King Cup: Will the big water reach Malaga?
The threat that may affect Malaga became loud in Polish media on Tuesday late afternoon. Information began to arrive regarding huge rainfall that would torpedo the areas of Malaga and the surrounding area. Rainfall of up to 120 mm was expected within twelve hours.
For this reason, it was decided to close the facilities, including sports facilities, in order not to make the mistake of omission – or too late information from the government – as happened in Valencia several days ago.
Interestingly, initially in the case of the organization of the BJKC final tournament, there was no binding information regarding the matches scheduled for Wednesday. It must be admitted that the situation is quite strange, because on the one hand, 3,000 inhabitants of Malaga were evacuated – as a precaution – and on the other, a tennis game for stakes was about to start in this city.
The Polish team will play under the baton of coach Dawid Celt, who is the team’s captain. The Polish national tennis team included: Iga Świątek, Magda Linette, Magdalena Fręch, Maja Chwalińska and Katarzyna Kawa.
