The Ministry of Infrastructure informs that the construction project for a new airport, railway station and public transport hub has been handed over to CPK. The construction of the airport is scheduled to start during this parliamentary term.

The Ministry of Infrastructure announced that the architectural consortium, acting as the master architect, provided the CPK company with the construction design of a new airport, railway station and public transport transfer hub. The acceptance of the construction project has started and should be completed this year.

By placing the CPK company under the supervision of the Ministry of Infrastructure, from the very beginning we had a clear task consistent with the goal of the entire government: to update and make the construction of CPK, a key infrastructure project for Poland, more realistic. Today we have another milestone on the way to creating a central airport. The port construction project is ready, design work is nearing completion, we are clearly accelerating – said Minister of Infrastructure Dariusz Klimczak, quoted in the ministry’s announcement.

The ministry’s website contains photos showing what the airport and the accompanying investments will look like, including: bus station. — This is another milestone on the way to the goal of building and launching a new airport. This investment is an impulse for further economic development of Poland and at the same time strengthening the market position of the national carrier PLL LOT – says Maciej Lasek, deputy minister of infrastructure and government plenipotentiary for CPK.

The construction of the airport is scheduled to start in 2026, i.e. during this term of office of the Sejm. – According to the updated schedule, the new airport is to be launched at the end of 2032 – simultaneously with the planned section of the High-Speed ​​Railway between Warsaw and Łódź – informs the ministry.

The planned area of ​​the passenger terminal is approx. 450,000 m2. sq m Passenger service will be provided on three levels:

  • Level +2: ticket and baggage check-in, security check, arrivals and departures for the Schengen area, some Non-Schengen arrivals,

  • Level +1: Non-Schengen arrivals and departures, transfer centers, document control,

  • Level 0: Schengen and Non-Schengen bus gates, baggage claim hall, arrivals hall.

In the first stage of implementation, the airport will be able to handle up to approx. 11,000. passengers per hour. On the opening day, there will be nearly 140 check-in counters inside, with space reserved for the installation of another check-in island, increasing the number of counters to 170.
