There has never been anything like this before. ChatGPT in NanoKaplic will advise you on matters of faith
The Catholic Church moves with the times. The Łacina Parish launched the first NanoChapel in Poland. What distinguishes the place from others? It is compatible with an application that allows believers to open the door at any time of the day or night and enter inside. But that’s not all – parishioners can also ask the virtual assistant questions about matters of faith that concern them. Although the bot behaves like a priest or a spiritual guide, it should not be treated as such.
Information about the opening of the new chapel was provided by the parish priest of the Name of Jesus Parish in Poznań, Father Radek Rakowski. The priest is known to Internet users for his speeches on YouTube, where his sermons are regularly listened to by several thousand Internet users.
Recently, a new place was established in Poznań on the initiative of Fr. Rakowski, TVN became interested. The journalists met with the parish priest to show them how a modern chapel works, based, among others, on: on ChatGPT. – Artificial intelligence means access to knowledge. People are ashamed to ask a priest a question, but here they can ask about anything – for example, “how to deal with marital problems”, “how to learn prayer” – he mentioned on a TV station.
You ask questions and ChatGPT answers – according to the teachings of the faith
During the program, the parish priest in Poznań presented the capabilities of the chapel. You can ask a question through the microphone and press the appropriate button, and then a voice will speak from the speakers, with the answers generated by ChatGPT (language model – the most popular application of this type, developed by the American OpenAI laboratory).
At the end of September, when the chapel was opened, Fr. Rakowski explained on Facebook what NanoKaplica offers. If we have a created and verified account in the Fibaro application, we can come to this place whenever we want. Just unlock the door using a dedicated smartphone program – and that’s it.
You can sit in a pew and pray. There is also an espresso machine – parishioners can come and chat in the chapel over coffee. “The meeting place will be controlled by the GPT chat assistant, i.e. artificial intelligence. It will help you move around the chapel and operate the coffee machine,” explained the parish priest. In addition, older people will be able to listen to a fragment of the Gospel, which will be read to them by an assistant and – if they wish – even interpreted. They can also ask other questions about faith and theology, and the possibilities of AI are virtually limitless.
First reviews? The parishioners liked the project
Comments under the Facebook post of Fr. Rakowski’s opinions are very positive. Internet users appreciated the idea – some admitted that they had already been to the chapel and everything worked there as it should.
