The youngest Polish Olympian criticized by the champion. “I would run faster than her”

Polska lekkoatletka Anastazja Kuś

Anastazja Kuś became the second youngest Polish athlete at the Olympic Games in history. The runner’s start was not liked by her older teammate, who did not hide her disappointment with her performance.

Anastazja Kuś is not yet 18 years old, but she is already causing great interest. To the surprise of many fans, the Pole was included in the Polish national team for the Olympic Games. The athlete from Olsztyn records better times in the 400 meters than most of her Polish rivals when she was her age.

The Olympic champion criticizes Anastazja Kuś

The young athlete is making a splash in races in her age category. The nomination to the Olympic team was a big surprise, and the athlete gained popularity thanks to the nomination. However, her start in the 4×400 meters qualifying round did not generate good reviews. Kuś started on the first shift together with Justyna Święta-Ersteic, Aleksandra Formella and Alicja Wrona-Kutrzepa. The sprinter ran her turn in 52.88 s, which did not help her advance to the final. Let us remind you that the Polish women defended the silver medal at the Olympic Games in Tokyo.

Iga Baumgart-Witan does not hide her bitter words towards her younger colleague. The Olympic champion from Tokyo was not included in the team for the race. In an interview with the WP SportoweFakty website, she did not bite her tongue when criticizing Anastazja Kuś’s performance. Additionally, she accused her of a little hypocrisy, mentioning the 17-year-old’s words about difficulties with pressure.

I was very disappointed with her start and I never expected that she could run so slowly. I was in terrible shape at the time, but I think I would have run faster than her anyway. Even when I was in worse shape, I never ran slower in the relay. All this is even more annoying because Anastazja expected from the beginning of the preparations that we should treat her like a senior. First, she said she didn’t want to run with the juniors anymore, and after the start she explained that she was stressed and couldn’t handle the pressure. If I did something like that, I know that the coach would never trust me again, said Baumgart-Witan.

The Polish representative still wants to compete in athletics. However, he is already thinking about the end of his career and life after it.
