On Thursday, May 14, a dangerous incident occurred during the match between Sorana Cirstea and Coco Gauff. The match was interrupted in the second set when the second player won one set and led in games 3:2. There was a commotion in the stands, which caught the attention of the tennis players.

A player from Romania was the first to realize the situation. Cirstea stopped the game when she noticed the unrest among the fans. She turned to the referee and the services present at the match, asking them to intervene immediately. As it turned out, one of the fans fainted and needed medical help. Once the rescuers took care of this person, for safety reasons it was decided to take him out of the court.
Italian media emphasize that it was exceptionally hot on the court that day. Temperatures were high in Rome, with the match venue and stands exposed to the sun. This could have contributed to the fan fainting.
