This subspecies are critically threatened. Now you can see him in Wrocław

The black and white lemurs living in the Wrocław Zoo from the Subcinct subspecies are one of the most unusual inhabitants of Madagascar. Their natural home are moist rainforests on the east coast of the island. They can be found high in the treetops, where they spend most of their lives, feeding on fruit, nectars and flowers.

What distinguishes them from other black and white lemurs is the characteristic white belt on the back. In addition, they are slightly smaller than others. However, this does not bother them to be equally busy. They lead a daily lifestyle, and their loud voices carry far through the forest. Interestingly, they are also extraordinary pollinators – while drinking nectar, they carry pollen and support the development of local plants.

Unfortunately, as the Wrocław Zoological Garden writes, this subspecies are critically threatened with extinction, due to hunting and felling of forests.
