The world champion hit Asseco Resovia Rzeszów. He pointed out a big problem
Asseco Resovia Rzeszów had a poor start to the 2024/25 season in PlusLiga. The team from Podkarpacie is struggling to collect points, having several sports problems.
The previous season for the Asseco Resovia Rzeszów volleyball players was quite successful. The team from the capital of Podkarpacie reached the best four of PlusLiga, ultimately taking a place just behind the podium. However, this should also include winning the European cup, namely the CEV Cup. They certainly remember much worse times in Rzeszów, so there was something to be happy about and look forward to the next campaign with optimism.
Krzysztof Ignaczak sharply talks about the problems of Asseco Resovia Rzeszów
However, the theory has not yet translated into practice. After six matches of the new season, Asseco Resovia is in distant 10th place in the PlusLiga table. This is not a reason to sound the alarm yet, but the Rzeszów team certainly has much greater ambitions regarding its position in the national hierarchy.
Krzysztof Ignaczak spoke before the away match between Asseco Resovia and PGE Projekt Warszawa (PlusLiga leader). The 2014 world champion gave an interview to “Super Express”, pointing out the problems of the people of Rzeszów.
Moreover, “Igła” does not believe that Wednesday’s match (i.e. October 16, 8:30 p.m., broadcast on Polsat Sport 1 and on the Polsat Box Go platform) will bring a positive result for the visitors from Podkarpacie.
– I think the match with Projekt will be one-sided. I see that Resovia still needs time to get back together after the personnel changes. It’s good that Paweł Zatorski is back. This is a big plus, it adds value and stabilizes the party and increases the comfort of other players. The difficulty in Asseco Resovia is that it is not easy to play with two offensive receivers, Bartosz Bednorz and Klemen Cebulj (…) At the moment, I am not impressed with the quarterback Gregor Ropret. Whoever of the attackers played with Fabian had the comfort of receiving a great ball, regardless of whether his name was Muzaj, Bucki or Boyer. Today we have Ropret, who needs to find the right pace and time. Whenever there is a rearrangement of the team, especially in such a key position, it takes a while to sort things out – admitted Ignaczak, a former volleyball player and president of the Rzeszów club.
Asseco Resovia has so far won 3:1 against Barkom Każany Lviv and GKS Katowice. Additionally, it lost 1:3 against Bogdanka LUK Lublin (away), 2:3 against Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie (home) and 0:3 against Jastrzębski Węgiel (away). The Rzeszów team also has one match outstanding, from the first round, at home against PSG Stal Nysa (postponed to October 30).
