The government is to work on the project of establishing a permanent US military base in Poland. The Prime Minister announced preparations to receive more American soldiers.
Poland begins preparations to increase the presence of United States troops. During Tuesday’s meeting of the Council of Ministers, a draft resolution on the actions necessary to establish a permanent US military base in the territory of our country is to be presented. The information was provided by Prime Minister Donald Tusk before the start of the government meeting. As he emphasized, Poland cannot passively wait for the implementation of announcements regarding the increase of the American military contingent, but should first create appropriate conditions for its operation.

The head of government informed that the project was prepared by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz. The document is intended to set the direction of the state’s actions related to accepting a larger number of US soldiers.
As Tusk pointed out, it is not only about military issues. It will be necessary to prepare appropriate logistic, infrastructure and housing facilities. This also requires securing financial resources and coordinating the activities of many state institutions.
The Prime Minister emphasized that creating conditions for the operation of a permanent military base is an undertaking that requires complex preparations and significant outlays.
The location of the base remains a secret
So far, no place has been indicated where a permanent US military base could be established. The government is currently focusing on developing the organizational and infrastructure framework that will enable the implementation of this project in the future.
The topic was also discussed during the morning meeting of the Committee of the Council of Ministers for National Security. According to information provided by the Prime Minister, the discussion concerned financial, logistic and infrastructure guarantees related to the potential increase in US troops in Poland.
