The truth about Robert Lewandowski’s injury. Jan Urban broke the silence
Jan Urban revealed Robert Lewandowski’s health situation. Both in terms of being called up to the national team and being accepted at FC Barcelona.
Problems with left thigh injury. This is the official health situation of Robert Lewandowski. According to the latest forecasts reported by the Catalan media, the Pole is to be ready to return in about two weeks. Therefore, “Lewy” will miss the famous El Clasico, i.e. the hit clash with Real Madrid.
Robert Lewandowski injured. What is the truth about trauma?
However, it seems that the situation – contrary to the original diagnoses that the Pole would have to pause for up to six weeks – is not that bad. Moreover, the rumors about the Spanish champions’ grievances regarding RL9’s behavior and the possible aggravation of the injury also seem to be false. At least that’s what coach Jan Urban says.
– It seems to me that Barcelona did not blame Robert Lewandowski for his injury. Hansi Flick heard from Robert the same thing as what I say to you and what I said earlier in the Spanish media. He had no grudges and he couldn’t. The media made more noise in this matter than the club – admitted the coach in a conversation with Przemysław Langier from Interia.
Additionally, the national team coach admitted that the captain of the Polish national team should be ready for the national team’s November training camp. “Everything indicates that yes,” coach Urban replied to the question.
In November, the Poles will play against the Netherlands at the PGE National Stadium in Warsaw (14/11) and away against Malta (17/11), thus closing the period of group play for the 2026 World Cup.
Rescue from Jan Urban? PZPN with direction after the Michał Probierz era
It is worth recalling that coach Michał Probierz started the qualifying rounds for next year’s World Championships as a coach. The Polish coach remained in his position after last year’s European Championships, where the team failed to advance from the group. The Poles recorded only one point, although in a clash with the world vice-champions, the French (1:1).
Ultimately, however, as the following months showed, they highlighted the Poles’ mediocre play and on-pitch conflicts. For example, the most famous coach with Robert Lewandowski, deprived of the captain’s armband and… resigning from playing in the national team as long as Probierz is the coach. Additionally, the Poles lost a very important away game against Finland (1:2), complicating their situation in the World Cup qualifying group.
After the unsuccessful international break in June, the Polish Football Association left Probierz in his position, but the coach, under increasing pressure, decided to resign. He was succeeded by Jan Urban. The former Polish representative, most recently the coach of Górnik Zabrze, had a very successful start to his career, in September drawing on a difficult terrain in Rotterdam with the Netherlands (1:1), and then winning against Finland (3:1) in Chorzów. The atmosphere around the team cleared up significantly, and the aforementioned Lewandowski returned to the team, regaining the captain’s armband.
Urban added two more victories during the October international break. A win in the friendly match against New Zealand (1-0) and, much more importantly, three points taken from Kaunas for the match against Lithuania (2-0).
