The travelers looked forward to it. However, the great attraction will return
The Egyptian attraction was supposed to open on September 1, but complications arose. It is already known that they have been averted.
People plan to travel to Egypt for many reasons. Some people mainly decide to stay in an all-inclusive hotel and relax by the pool, others focus on sightseeing and discovering historical cities or attractions. Balloon flights in Luxor are iconic, but tourists couldn’t use them all summer due to high temperatures. Flights were supposed to return in September and after a slight delay they will finally be available.
Balloon flights in Egypt are back
The case concerns commercial balloon flights over the monuments of Luxor. These operate on heated air and are considered the greatest attraction in Egypt. For years, up to a thousand people have taken to the air every day. From above they admired, among others, temples in Karnak, the Valley of Kings and Queens or the Temple of Hatshepsut. From June 1 to August 31, 2026, this was not possible due to high temperatures.
The current situation regarding the attractions is reported by the website cairo24.com. Initially, he reported that balloon flights were still not possible on September 7, although they were supposed to have been going on for a week. The problem was not the weather conditions, but the lack of required consents and formalities. On September 8, it turned out that the companies operating the flights could already do their job.
Confusion regarding the suspension of attractions
There has been considerable confusion over the failure to restore balloon flights to Luxor in time. Tourists expected to take advantage of the popular opportunities offered by this place, but at the beginning of September some of them were disappointed. Now cairo24.com assures that the situation is under control.
A letter has been published, which shows that the Egyptian Civil Aviation Authority has addressed the chairmen of the boards of balloon companies regarding the renewal of the six-month military certificate number (175002).
“The Civil Aviation Office is pleased to announce that a six-month military certificate has been issued for balloon companies with a valid certificate of operational efficiency valid from this date until December 31, 2026,” we read.
Many companies are subject to consent, including: Sinbad, Dream Balloon, Adventure, King Tut, Magic Horizon, Royal Air, Bluebird, Luxor, Quanes & Balloon, Cinderella, Salem Balloon, Hodhod Suleiman, Safari and Beyond Horizon. It is known that they plan to resume operations gradually, and the peak season will fall in winter.
