The titled tennis player assesses the emotions of Iga Świątek. “Maybe that’s why it hurt her so much”
Nervous press conferences and shouting during matches of the Iga Świątek staff is a reason to worry? Justine Henin’s tennis legend is a completely different opinion.
This year, the US Open failed to go, as if she wanted to. The fans will remember her short circuits with journalists at press conferences. In an interview with WP SportoweFacts, the titled tennis player Justine Henin argued, however, that the fans of Świątek had no reason to worry.
Iga Christmas nervous? Henin defends his younger friend
– The question for Iga Świątek during the last conference was very unfortunate. Apparently people do not understand that when you lose the quarter -finals of the Grand Slam tournament, it does not mean that you immediately need some extra break that you are finished. It was a suggestion that Iga has a crisis again, and we see well that this is not the case – the former player from Belgium pointed out.
– After all, every tennis player has better and worse moments, but this is not the end of the world. If such a question had a few months ago, it would be justified. This time it was suggesting that something was wrong with Iga again. This is a wrong assumption, because after the crisis she returned in excellent shape. Maybe that’s why it hurt her so much – she tried the Polish woman’s emotions.
Justine Henin about the Świątek team: it was nervous, but without exaggeration
Henin also added that she was not surprised by the win of Amanda Anisimova from Świątek. She explained that the Polish rival played at a very high level, because she works well on this particular surface and is an uncomfortable rival for our tennis player. – Iga is a great champion, but he still has to work to have additional options in such matches and be even better – she emphasized.
Belgian also assured that the nervous reactions of the Christmas staff during the match are something that only people who do not understand tennis may surprise. – Team Świątek just tried to do everything to motivate her to the best possible play. It was nervous, but I didn’t see anything extraordinary there – said Henin.
– You can see with the naked eye that Iga already worked very much before Roland Garros’s tournament on her mental approach to matches. Today she is much more positive about competition and responds better to mistakes. The difference is gigantic – she assessed.
