On Saturday, Polish volleyball players will inaugurate their appearance at the Olympic Games in Paris. Jakub Kochanowski spoke about the first rival.
The last few days have been a time for Polish volleyball players to make the final adjustments to their game. You can see full concentration among Nikola Grbić’s players. Everyone is aware of the power of the team, which lost only two official matches last year, and this season has already won the bronze medal in the Nations League. Everyone also knows what pressure is on the team. The lack of an Olympic medal in the 21st century also has an impact on this.
Kochanowski calm before the games
– I think I can speak for the entire group that we feel in good shape, we feel rested and we will show what we are capable of on Saturday – emphasized Jakub Kochanowski in an interview with the “Polska Siatkówka” website.
The Polish national team center also spoke about the atmosphere in the Olympic Village. There are a lot of athletes there, which often makes the canteens and many important places crowded.
– You can see that this is an original event in terms of organization. We knew that we would have to devote more time to things that we get right away at other tournaments. It’s not a surprise – assessed the center of the Polish national team.
Egypt is a class weaker
Grbić’s players will start the Olympic Games with a match against Egypt, which in theory means a clash with the weakest team in the tournament. Kochanowski is aware of this. From his statement, one can conclude that it depends only on the Poles whether there will be any difficulties in defeating their closest rival.
– The opponent is a class weaker than us, which is certainly an additional burden. We need to focus on our own form in this match, maintain concentration. We need to play at a good level – Kochanowski concluded.
The Poland-Egypt match will start on Saturday at 5:00 p.m. Later, the Polish national team will face Brazil on Wednesday, July 31 at 9:00 a.m., and then compete with Italy. This match will take place on Saturday, August 3 at 5:00 p.m.
