The spa will be “just like old times”. Not only patients will benefit
The Szczawno-Zdrój Spa is planning to revitalize the historic garden of the Spa House. It will remain publicly available, not only for patients. What will change?
Szczawno-Zdrój in Lower Silesia is one of the oldest Polish health resorts. In the first half of the 20th century, it was known as Bad Salzbrunn – this was its name from January 1935, when the Germans controlled it. It was only in 1946 that the name Szczawno-Zdrój was officially introduced.
The spa will undergo a transformation
Dziennik.walbrzych.pl informs that there are plans to revitalize the historic garden at the Spa House in Szczawno-Zdrój. Not everyone knows that the Grand Hotel in Sopot was modeled on it.
The aim of the work is to restore the 19th century appearance of the garden. The central part of the area will remain a lawn. There will be natural paths around it, benches and lighting for paths and vegetation will be added. The tender is to be announced in the coming days. “Soon it will be as beautiful as in the old days,” the spa informs on its Facebook page.
New well. Water for a wider group
Work may start this year. Next spring, gardening crews will begin planting plants. The total investment implementation time will be approximately one and a half years. The president of the spa, Krzysztof Urbański, assures that the renovated garden will be publicly available and free of charge for residents, patients and tourists.
The health resort is planning more changes that will attract patients and tourists. A new well was launched there in May. The investment involves increasing the extraction of spring and mineral waters and launching a new production line for water with lower mineralization for a wider group of recipients. According to plans, it could be launched at the end of 2027.
The properties of the local waters were first tested and confirmed in 1598. The first sanatorium was established in 1815, and around 1820 the Mineral Water Pump Room was built. Szczawieńskie waters enjoyed such great fame that in 1825 an order for their bottled version even arrived from China.
