The shortest air connection in Poland. You won’t even spend 30 minutes on the plane

PLL LOT offers several domestic connections that allow you to quickly travel between the largest Polish cities. However, one of the routes definitely stands out from the rest. The flight from Warsaw to Lublin is the shortest regular domestic flight in the national carrier’s network and lasts only 45 minutes. However, as statistics from aircraft tracking websites show, passengers actually only spend about 20 minutes in the air. Is such a short flight actually more profitable than taking a train?

From Lublin to Warsaw in 20 minutes

20 minutes was enough for the Embraer 170/175, which took off from the Świdnik airport in Lublin on August 2 to reach Warsaw. Usually the flight time takes a few minutes longer, but rarely exceeds thirty minutes. A regular connection on this route was introduced by LOT Polish Airlines in 2018. After seven years, in the spring of 2025, due to great interest, it was decided to increase the frequency to one flight per day.

An alternative to the train

The fastest train on the Warsaw – Lublin route covers it in less than two hours. Flying by plane is therefore not a real alternative for those who need to get from the center of one city to the center of another. If we add the check-in time at the airport and the journey to the outskirts where the airports are located, we will not gain any time, even with such a short flight.

The situation is different with connecting flights. If we travel to Warsaw in order to fly to another direction, LOT Polish Airlines’ domestic connections are a huge convenience. People on business trips also like to use Lublin-Warsaw-Lublin flights. It cannot be denied that this alternative to the train is a bit more expensive – one-way tickets without luggage usually cost about PLN 150 one way. A train ticket costs less than half.
