The senior voucher is getting closer. “Reverse Grandma”
The senior voucher is a “reverse grandma” service, says Marzena Okła-Drewnowicz, Minister of Senior Policy. The solution is to enter into force on January 1, 2026.
At the beginning of this year, the Minister for Senior Policy announced the launch of a senior voucher. It is intended to be a form of support for people who cannot take care of their loved ones, and at the same time a way to organize care services in the place of residence of elderly people requiring care.
In October, a bill on this matter was presented. It assumes that the maximum value of the senior voucher will be PLN 2,150 per month, i.e. 50%. minimum wage in the second half of this year. This will equate to 50 hours of support services. Importantly, the senior voucher will not be paid in cash. This will be the commune’s own task, financed from the state budget.
Senior voucher. Who will be able to benefit?
The family of a senior who is over 75 years of age and has been granted a retirement or disability pension will be able to apply for support. However, the senior’s average monthly benefit – including the care allowance – will not exceed the following amounts:
-
PLN 3,500 gross in 2026
-
PLN 4,000 gross in 2027
-
PLN 4,500 gross in 2028
-
PLN 5,000 gross in 2029
“Reverse Grandma”
Consultations on the act on the senior voucher were held in Wieliczka on Friday. The Minister for Senior Policy took part in them. Marzena Okła-Drewnowicz pointed out that the senior voucher is a “reverse grandmother” in the service.
The minister emphasized that caring for seniors in their place of residence is a “big dilemma and problem” for many families who are professionally active, and due to the shortage of specialists dealing with this professionally, families often “cope on their own as best they can, reaching into the gray zone.” .
– Therefore, the purpose of this act is to help professionally active families whose taxes we all care about, because without these taxes there will be no senior policy. – argued Okła-Drewnowicz.
The Minister of Senior Policy admitted that one of the biggest challenges related to the introduction of the senior voucher will be finding and engaging people who will provide help to the elderly.
The senior voucher is to enter into force at the beginning of 2026. It is estimated that approximately 535,000 people will benefit from the solution. people.
