The scandal surrounding the land for the CPK does not go away. The company wants to lease a key area

Działka CPK Zabłotnia

The CPK company wants to lease plots of land that previously caused a political scandal over the sale of land for investment purposes.

Centralny Port Komunikacyjny announced a tender for the lease of over 152 hectares of land in Zabłotnia near Grodzisk Mazowiecki. It was these plots that became the hero of one of the most famous scandals related to the CPK project last fall. The area is of strategic importance for the construction of the High-Speed Railway line leading to the airport in Baranów and the future logistics base of the investment. Despite this, the company decided to lease the land temporarily for agricultural purposes.

The sale of land for the CPK caused a storm in PiS

The scandal broke out after it was revealed that KOWR had sold real estate for PLN 22.8 million to a company associated with Piotr Wielgomas, vice-president of Dawtona. What was controversial was the fact that the plots were crucial for CPK’s investment, and the transaction itself was carried out despite the opposition of the company’s authorities.

The case led to political consequences. Jarosław Kaczyński suspended several PiS activists, including former Minister of Agriculture Robert Telus. The prosecutor’s office initiated an investigation, and the CBA also took up the case.

Why does CPK want to lease the land?

The government’s representative for the CPK, Maciej Lasek, argues in an interview with Radio ZET that the lease is temporary and is intended to prevent the land from being left fallow. As he explains, the area will be used until construction works on the railway line begin.

The company’s authorities emphasize that similar solutions are also used for other properties belonging to CPK. The agreement is to be valid until December 2027.

However, the starting price of the lease is controversial. The annual rent was set at just over PLN 321,000. PLN net. According to interlocutors familiar with the matter, this is much less than the previous rates paid for the use of these lands.

Radio ZET also points out that there are also ambiguities regarding the investment schedule. Minister Maciej Lasek talks about starting work in 2026, but the lease agreement itself is to be valid longer.

The investigation regarding the CPK land is ongoing. There are still no charges

The District Prosecutor’s Office in Warsaw is still investigating the circumstances of the sale of the plots. Investigators are questioning representatives of the ministries, CPK, KOWR and other institutions involved in the process of preparing the transaction.

So far, no one has been charged. However, the prosecutor’s office emphasizes that the analysis of documents and evidence is still ongoing.
