The Russian won the World Championships for Poland, now the games? “I want to be Polish”
The story of Vladimir Semirunnija is unusual. This is a great talent for fast skating, which wins medals for Poland. The Russian is also applying for Polish citizenship.
We wrote about the history of Vladimir Semirunni at the end of last year. At that time, the 21 -year -old pancreaticist received permission from the World Fast Skating Federation (ISU) to start as a Polish representative. The player comes from Ekaterinburg.

It turned out that it was a pass to the rapid successes of this smiling, extremely talented boy. It is worth adding that since 2023 living in Poland. In the past, as a player representing Russia, Semirunnin was, among others medalist of the Junior World Championships.
– Vladimir Semirunnii received permission from ISU to represent Poland in international competitions! After two years of waiting, as well as fruitful trainings with the Polish team, “Władek” will fight for qualifications for the European Multi-County Championships and for World Cups 3-6 during the next Polish championships in polygonous, which will take place on December 20-22. Every day Vladimir lives in Tomaszów Mazowiecki and will represent the Pilica Club Tomaszów Maz. A few months later, Semirunni won two medals at the World Championships for the Polish national team. He won 10 km (silver) and 5 km (bronze) discs.
– As soon as I arrived in Poland, I stated that I am not going to go back to Russia and I want to live in Poland permanently. Nothing changes in this matter. I support that the war will end soon, but it will not affect my situation. I want to be Polish and represent Poland at the Games. I feel at home here and I want to make my dreams come true – says Semirunnin in an interview for WP/SportoweFakty.
It is possible that a sky -born sky -born in Russia will be a great hope for a medal for Poland during next year’s Olympic Games. There is still some time to compete in Italy. This, for now, works in favor of positive decisions towards the Olympic start. This officially on February 6, 2026.
Until then, Semirunni can start as a Polish representative in other fast skating competitions. In the case of ZIO 2026, the pass will be to receive Polish citizenship. A procedure is currently underway, which should, however, end with a positive decision for this talented boy.
Semirunnie left his homeland because of the outbreak of war. From the very beginning he did not agree with what was happening in Ukraine, thanks to the Russian troops led by the dictator Vladimir Putin. Which sounded many times.
The dot “nad i” in the context of the aforementioned, ongoing procedures for granting citizenship, will be the signature of the president.
Will it still be Andrzej Duda, whose term is coming to an end? For today it is difficult to say unequivocally.
