The promotion with tickets for PLN 1 at PKP is back. These routes are most often chosen by seniors
The Ticket for a PLN campaign on October 14 aroused so much interest that some passengers reported problems with boarding the train. A spokesman for PKP Intercity assures that the company is prepared for another promotional campaign next Monday.
On October 14, he set a historical record in the number of journeys in PKP Intercity. This is due to the promotional tickets for PLN 1, which were available to students and teachers that day. Sales started a month earlier and seats were quickly sold out. As usual with so much interest, there were some problems.
Some young travelers reported online that they were unable to board the return train and had to arrange their journey to their hometown in a different way. Passengers who were not entitled to cheap tickets complained about the too large number of tickets for PLN 1 and the lack of free seats.

The next opportunity for cheap travel comes on Monday, October 20. On that day, seniors aged 60+ will also travel for PLN 1 in second class. Will the lineups be extended due to great demand? The PKP Intercity spokesman assures that everything is under control.
“We constantly monitor the situation and analyze information from the reservation system. If necessary, depending on the rolling stock and technical possibilities, the trains will be extended. We are prepared for this type of operations, they will proceed similarly to other transport peaks, when we have an additional pool of wagons secured,” Maciej Dutkiewicz told “Wprost”.
There will be no surprises. As part of the promotion on the European Seniors’ Day, the most popular tourist destinations and large cities are: connections from Warsaw to the Tricity, Krakow, Poznań, Lublin and back, as well as trips in both directions between Wrocław and Poznań.

Everything indicates that travel on Monday will be more comfortable than on October 14. Although some connections indicate limited availability, on Friday there were still many free seats with senior discounts available in the online ticket purchasing system, also on popular routes, e.g. Warsaw-Wrocław.
