A well -known priest bought a monastery for over 2.5 million zlotys. The priest is a valued – especially in Central Europe – a theologian and sociologist.
What happened to the monastery? The professor transferred him for use for the Czech center of spirituality.

Father prof. Tomáš Halík – a habilitated doctor of sociology and theology, as well as a doctor of philosophy – bought a monastery from the province of Capuchin for 15 million Czech crowns (Kč) – as the christnet portal determined. The property is located in the city of Kolín – writes the Catholic Information Agency. Then he handed over the building and land for use to the Kolin monastery Institute – a center of spirituality and spiritual exercises. Theologian, sociologist and phyolosof has been supporting a place for many years, which thanks to him can now use real estate free of charge.
Father prof. In order to implement the purchase, Halík used the fund’s money, which was launched thanks to funds from the Templeton award (he received it more than a decade ago), as well as thanks to his parents’ inheritance.
“After a few years of efforts and difficult negotiations, the Capuchin brothers finalized the sale of their monastery in Kolina. The new owner is Father Prof. Tomáš Halík, president of the Czech Christian Academy, who bought the building through his fund for 15 million part Kolínský klášter.
In 2011, Fr. prof. Halík received the Knight’s Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland
The 76-year-old priest is “one of the most famous Catholic intellectuals in the world,” writes Ekai. The books he wrote were translated into many languages - including English or German, as well as Polish. Over 15 years ago, Benedict XVI appointed him an honorary prelate.
Three years later he was awarded the Knight’s Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland. The Warsaw Catholic Intelligence Club gave him the “Pontifici” award.
