The president will veto further freezing of electricity prices? Strong words were said
The Prime Minister wants to blackmail Poles with a windmill act. I am not going to give up – said President Karol Nawrocki in Polsat News. The decision on a possible veto is to be made soon.
Last week, the Sejm voted most of the Senate amendments to the amendment of the so -called windmill act. The key element of the amendment is the extension of freezing energy prices for households for the last quarter of this year. Pursuant to the existing regulations, the recipients of electricity in households may benefit from a frozen price at the level of PLN 500 per MWH net by the end of September. In the field of wind farms, the key change is the departure from the so -called Principles 10h, in force since 2016. The new regulations introduce a minimum distance of 500 m between new wind turbines and residential buildings. Currently, this limit is 700 m.
President Karol Nawrocki will decide about the fate of the act. The collaborators of the new president suggested in public statements that it was possible to veto due to the connection of further freezing of electricity prices with “windmills”. Prime Minister Donald Tusk referred to the President’s likely opposition in social media. – President Nawrocki promised cheap electricity and therefore decided to veto the act guaranteeing … cheap electricity. What do you not understand? – wrote the head of government on Platform X.
President Karol Nawrocki comments
The president himself took the floor. In an interview with Polsat News, Karol Nawrocki accused the prime minister of blackmail. – The prime minister and most parliamentary want to blackmail not so much the president himself but Poles and Poles who want to put closer to windmills. Many Poles manifested on this matter during the election campaign and today. There are problems with the lobbying of certain companies, including foreign ones, which the windmills put up – the president said in the “Events Guest”.
– I do not intend to give up to such blackmail and I think that Poles are too wise nation to think that Prime Minister Tusk in fact wants to reduce electricity prices. The point is to increase the possibility of lobbying companies on our households He added.
Nawrocki announced that he would make the decision on the windbreaker act soon. He also informed that he would present his own proposal to reduce energy prices. – I will approach this matter in a prudent manner – summed up the president.
