The Polish village hides a unique bridge. They want him to hit the UNESCO list
Bridges in Poland often draw the attention of tourists. We appreciate, among others TE in Wrocław, Warsaw or Krakow. It turns out that a historic one from an inconspicuous village deserves special appreciation.
I am talking about a historic bridge in Maurzyce, which can hit the national list of monuments of the history of the President of the Republic of Poland, and then on the elite UNESCO World Heritage List. For this to happen, a lot has to happen, but the relationship between the bridges of the Republic of Poland does not believe that this is impossible. The idea is also supported by the Łódź Provincial Conservator of Monuments. The General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA) was submitted with a valuable initiative.
The bridge in Maurzyce. What is this monument?
Both Maurzyce and the bridge, which is located in the area of the aforementioned village, are not known to Poles very well. I am talking about a place located in the Łódź Voivodeship, in the Łowicz poviat, where we find, among others Skansen. There are more attractions, and one of these is the local, the world welded road bridge. It was established in 1929, according to the design of Stefan Bryła and the shores of the Słudwi River.
The bridge looks inconspicuous, but according to many, though small, it is effective. The Association of Mostists of the Republic of Poland appreciates him in particular and returns to a unique character. The bridge is 27 m long and 6.8 m wide. Its design was once a real technical revolution and aroused the admiration of engineers from around the world. They specially came to Poland to visit a new facility. Today, the bridge is getting louder again.
The bridge in Maurzyce on the UNESCO list?
The idea that the bridge in Maurzyce hit the UNESCO World Heritage List was born, among others For the desire to appreciate him and make him wrong. It is also about appreciating the creator of the structure, prof. Stefan Bryła. The engineer collaborated, among others In the USA in the construction of, among others such a skyscraper as Woolworth Building in New York – the highest building in the world at the time.
Already in 2010, the bridge was awarded by the Minister of Culture with the “Well -kept monument” award, but it was decided that it could not end there. For the bridge to hit the UNESCO list, it must first appear on the list of monuments to the history of the President of the Republic of Poland. The initiators of the campaign do not give up, although only one bridge has hit it so far – in Ozimek on Mała Panew.
It is known that a special application and justification must reach the general conservator of monuments, and then, after obtaining the opinion of the National Heritage Institute, will be presented to the Monument Protection Council. Only then will he hit the President of the Republic of Poland. The next step will be to enter it on the UNESCO list.
