The Polish representative has a difficult time at the club. The fans made him feel bad, the coach appeals
Nicola Zalewski is not having an easy time at AS Roma. After the match even coach De Rossi had to intervene. A clear appeal was made.
AS Roma have not had the best start to this Serie A season. After two matches, the Giallorossi have one point and are in fifteenth place, tied with teams such as AC Milan and Bologna.
Ruthless behavior of fans towards Nicola Zalewski
In the first round, they drew 0-0 with Cagliari, and in the next match, they lost 1:2 to Empoli. It was during this last match that a controversial situation occurred involving the fans and Nicola Zalewski. The Pole entered the pitch at the beginning of the second half and replaced Zeki Celik. When our representative was already on the pitch, he was booed by… his own fans.
After the match, coach Daniele De Rossi addressed the situation. “I think it’s wrong to boo your own players. They need support. I’m also talking about Nicola Zalewski, since he appeared on the pitch,” he said, as quoted by “La Gazzetta dello sport.”
– I know this city and if things don’t go too well, the players will be booed, including me. He (Nicola Zalewski – editor’s note) has huge potential, but he should be helped, not booed – he added.
Difficult times for Nicola Zalewski at AS Roma
Since AS Roma was taken over by Daniele De Rossi, Nicola Zalewski has played very little. Despite this, he has found recognition in the eyes of Michał Probierz and played first fiddle at Euro 2024. There was even talk of selling the Pole, with clubs such as Torino, Milan, Napoli or PSV all considered.
The new Serie A season has only just begun, but in the first round the Pole was in the starting line-up and was replaced by Paulo Dybala in the 69th minute. In the second round he came on at the beginning of the second half. Let’s hope that Zalewski starts playing up to his talent and the whistles turn into applause.
