The Polish national team met its rivals in the World Cup game! Here are the draw results
On Friday noon at the FIFA headquarters in Zurich, the draw for the 2026 World Cup qualifying groups takes place. Who did the Polish national football team choose?
It is worth recalling that the national team has had difficult months behind it. The Poles have recently lost a lot under coach Michał Probierz, including a place in the A division of the UEFA Nations League. The relegation was decided by a defeat against Scotland (1:2) at the PGE Narodowy in Warsaw.
Here are the rivals of the Polish national team in the 2026 World Cup
The Polish Football Association, after the Poles’ elimination from Euro 2024 at the group stage and the mentioned defeat in the UEFA Nations League, still trusts the training abilities of coach Probierz. The national team is undergoing a generational change. After the European Championship, he said goodbye to the team, among others. Wojciech Szczęsny, slightly earlier Grzegorz Krychowiak, and Kamil Grosicki is waiting for his farewell meeting.
Touchstone has a contract until the end of the World Cup qualifying rounds. These will be crucial for both the future of the coach and the national team. There is no question that Poles should appear regularly at the most important events. The last time Poland did not play at the World Cup was in 2014.
54 teams will take part in the qualifying competition in the UEFA zone, divided into 12 groups, six with four teams and six with five teams. Before the draw, the Poles were in basket number two with Ukraine, Sweden, Turkey, Wales, Hungary, Serbia, Romania, Greece, Norway, Slovakia and the Czech Republic. It was known that the Polish team would not play with these teams for a place at the 2026 World Cup.
The Poles will play in group G. Their rivals will be:
- loser of the match Spain/Netherlands 1/4 LN

This is what the remaining 2026 World Cup qualifying groups look like:

XXIII FIFA World Cup. The World Cup will be held in three countries!
In recent years, FIFA has been surprising with its choices when it comes to the host countries of the next World Cup. After the 2022 “winter” World Cup in Qatar, the event will be held again on another continent four years later. This time it will be a trio: Canada, Mexico and the United States. This will be the first such World Cup tournament to be organized in three countries.

So far, a maximum of 32 teams have gone to the World Cup. It opens on June 11 in Mexico and closes on July 19 in New York/New Jersey. A total of 104 matches will be played.
Looking geographically, in Mexico the best national teams in the world will play in three stadiums (Mexico – Estadio Azteca, Monterrey – Estadio BBVA, Guadalajara – Estadio Akron). Additionally, two facilities in Canada (Vancouver – BC Place, Toronto – BMO Field).
The matches will be played in as many as eleven stadiums in the USA (New York/New Jersey – MetLife Stadium, Dallas – AT&T Stadium, Atlanta – Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Kansas City – Arrowhead Stadium, Houston – NRG Stadium, Los Angeles – SoFi Stadium, Seattle – Lumen Field, Boston – Gillette Stadium, Miami – Hard Rock Stadium, Philadelphia – Lincoln Financial Field, San Francisco Bay Arena – Levi’s Stadium).
