For 43 years of the existence of the Polish women’s national football team, Poles have not managed to advance to the championship event. The historic breakthrough took place on December 3, 2024, at the Austria Vienna stadium.

The Polish women won 1-0 after a goal in added time of the second half by – of course – the biggest star and captain of the Polish team, Ewa Pajor.

It is worth adding that in the first match, the Poles were also better than the Austrians, winning the match played at the stadium in Gdańsk in the same ratio (1:0).

It must be admitted that the Polish women played the return match in Vienna very well tactically. It was known that the favorites – the hosts – would want to make up for the minimal losses from the first match from the very first minutes. There is no denying that the guests from Poland had to defend themselves very deeply at times, but they did it skillfully. Coach Nina Patalon wisely managed to use the team’s potential, exactly as it was needed in a match in which the most important thing was to achieve a favorable result. Ultimately, this gave the Poles a gigantic success.

The Polish women’s national football team has existed since 1971. For many years, Polish women have tried their hand at various qualifiers, starting with the European, world and Olympic championships. And it was only on December 3, 2024, after 43 years of operation, that the Polish football players achieved their goal.

Additionally, the biggest star of the national team, one of the best strikers in the world, the aforementioned Ewa Pajor, can be satisfied. Promotion to Euro 2025, a goal, and all this on… his 28th birthday. A better gift couldn’t be imagined!

The European Women’s Championship will be held in Switzerland from July 2-27, 2025.
