In the first minutes, the Dutch attacked the Poles, but our players withstood it and then scored a goal. Watch Adam Buksa's goal.
Poland was absolutely not a favorite in the clash with the Netherlands at the opening of Euro 2024. Our rivals did great in the first minutes and already fired the first shots. Oranje were determined to open the scoring. However, this did not happen.
Adam Buksa scored the first goal for Poland
After 10 minutes of the game, we saw moments when the white and red team performed much better than before. In the 16th minute we had a set piece. Piotr Zieliński delivered a brilliant cross from a corner kick, and Adam Buksa jumped highest. The Polish striker had previously lost several duels with Virgil van Dijk, but he escaped him at the most important moment and made a great shot.
There was madness among the Polish fans in the stands. Robert Lewandowski applauded proudly from the bench and had no choice but to watch his teammates. You can see Buksa's goal below.
The Netherlands equalized after a goal by Gakpo
It was expected that after conceding the goal, the Dutch would attack. Our defense was in trouble several times, but even if the defenders didn't stop the opponents, Wojciech Szczęsny did.
Unfortunately, we conceded a goal in the 29th minute. Nicola Zalewski wrongly shifted the weight of the game because the ball hit the center of the field. Ronald Koeman's men took the ball and had the advantage. They used it skillfully. Cody Gakpo shot from outside the penalty area and the ball ricocheted into the net.
