The Poles are already running for fuel. Then it will only get more expensive

Poles are prudent and it’s no surprise to them. Anyone who does not have central heating connected to the municipal network at home has experienced horror in recent years trying to buy coal or pellets.

In summer, the raw material is plentiful and prices are even 10 to 30 percent lower. depending on the fuel and its quality. If you can save PLN 1,000-1,500 without stress, why not?

Forest districts increased prices for wood. Pellet will not be cheaper than now

In summer, wood prices in forest districts are stable, but over the year they have increased by several to even several dozen percent. In private warehouses, ready-made, dry hardwood (beech, hornbeam) costs from PLN 380 to PLN 800 per square meter, and in autumn it becomes more expensive by several dozen zlotys.

At the end of July 2026, in the Supraśl Forest District, a cubic meter of pine, spruce and larch cost PLN 178.35 gross, soft hardwood species PLN 162.36, and hard hardwood species PLN 207.87. In the Dąbrowa Tarnowska Forest District, pine, spruce, fir or larch cost PLN 246 per cubic meter, birch and alder cost PLN 270.60, and beech, oak, ash and hornbeam cost PLN 276.75. In private depots the fees are slightly more expensive.

Unlike previous seasons, pellet prices did not drop significantly after the end of winter. However, compared to June last year, pellets are significantly more expensive. Currently, on average, you have to pay about one fifth more for certified granules than a year ago, the industry website kb.pl reported.

The average price of A1 class pellets currently exceeds PLN 1,700 per tonne. Those who manage to hit a ton for around PLN 1,450 can consider themselves lucky. The best prices can still be found directly from the manufacturers. It will range from PLN 1,500 to PLN 1,850 per tonne. the price from a year ago, i.e. about PLN 1,200 per ton, will definitely not come back – unless someone wants to switch to pellets made from sunflower husks. But purchasing pellets in the summer will still be 15-25% cheaper. than in autumn or winter.

Mining companies have coal in stockpiles. It is slightly more expensive than in 2025

In Poland, about 33 percent households are still heated with coal. It is the main source of heat for over 2.5 to 3 million Polish homes. According to Interia.pl, a tonne of walnut coal from the Polish Mining Group, i.e. from the Marcel, Ziemowit and Jankowice mines, currently costs approximately PLN 1,150. Coal cubes cost approximately PLN 1,200 per ton, while coal coal for boilers with a feeder costs approximately PLN 1,250 per ton.

Packaged coal is traditionally more expensive than loose coal. Karlik and Pieklorz peas cost approximately PLN 27.30 per 20 kg bag. Products from the Blue line are even more expensive – the price exceeds PLN 30 per bag.

A tonne of the JARET plus product from Południowy Koncern Węglowy currently costs PLN 1,310. Sobieski and Sobieski Premium peas are slightly more expensive, priced at PLN 1,360 per tonne. The same rates also apply when purchasing fuel in Big Bags weighing 1,000 kg.

In fuel depots, coal costs from PLN 1,300 to PLN 1,600 per tonne. Last year’s season, coal cost from PLN 1,150 to PLN 1,700.
