The Pole is the world champion! Fans remember her from the Olympic Games
Klaudia Zwolińska’s great success! The Pole has just become world champion, giving no chance to her rivals in Penrith, Australia, winning the C1 category.
A year ago, the 26-year-old from Nowy Sącz was the Olympic vice-champion in K1. We’re talking about competition in whitewater kayaking.
On the Olympic track in Penrith near Sydney, she was 17th in the C1 qualifying round, but on Thursday she swam great. She took second place in the semi-finals, and in the final she did not give her rivals a chance.
This is a huge success for Klaudia Zwolińska, who introduced herself to the sports world during last year’s Olympic Games in Paris. At that time, she was a real sensation among the medalists from the Polish national team.
Klaudia Zwolińska is the world champion! Great news from distant Australia
It is worth noting that for Zwolińska this is the first gold medal in her career, considering the World Championships. The Pole has blazed many dusty kayaking trails in the last dozen or so months. Example? The mentioned medal at the Olympic Games in Paris. It was the first record for Polish whitewater kayaking in 24 years. Moreover, Zwolińska is the first woman from Poland to stand on the Olympic podium in the whitewater kayaking competition.
The athlete from Nowy Sącz is not only a competitor with great sports class, but also a figure who impressed with her big heart. Zwolińska donated the coveted silver Olympic medal to a charity auction, which further made Polish fans fall in love with her.
As you can see, the result achieved at the Olympic Games in Paris was not a coincidence. Zwolińska is officially the world champion in the C1 competition, and this is still not the Polish representative’s crowning competition. This Friday (i.e. October 3), the Pole will fight for a medal in the K1 competition, in which competitors sail in kayaks using a paddle with two blades.
We can therefore assume that this is not the end of positive news coming straight from Australia for Polish whitewater kayaking.
