The Pole got a chance to succeed! He will be under enormous pressure

Widzew Łódź announced its decision on Friday (i.e. September 11) afternoon.

– I didn’t want to choose the club only because of the name, because we know that when a brand like Widzew comes forward, it is often viewed through this prism, which may be misleading. I wanted to look at the organization, possibilities and potential that lie dormant here. I think that many points are very interesting, ones on which you can base the construction. I will try to fight for stability for the staff, the team and the entire Club, so that all the changes taking place will be changes that will bring joy to the audience – said Mateusz Stolarski, already as Widzew’s coach.

Mateusz Stolarski is the coach of Widzew Łódź. The Pole has a big chance!

After playing seven matches in the 2026/27 season, the Łódź team is only thirteenth in the PKO BP Ekstraklasa table. Widzew players collected seven points. The consequence of the mediocre opening of the season and the elimination from the STS Polish Cup competition (after the defeat against Korona Kielce) was the separation from the current coach, Aleksandar Vukovic.

As for the new Widzew coach, he was best known to fans from his time working for Motor Lublin.

First, he was an assistant, and later – in the spring round of the 2023/24 season – he became the first coach. He led the team to the PKO BP Ekstraklasa, where he continued in good style, finishing in seventh place.

Stolarski worked at Motor for another year, and his overall record was 82 matches, in which he won 30 victories, recorded 24 draws and suffered 28 defeats. Previously, he was also associated with Stal Rzeszów and Wólczanka Wólka Pełkińska.

The new coach of Widzew is relatively young, considering the position of the first coach. Stolarski is only 33 years old. One thing is certain – the trainer faces a really big challenge. However, Widzew has everything needed to return to its best years and fight for high goals.
