The radar record ended on the Bay of Norton Sound after 47 minutes of flight and 236 kilometers covered. It is known that the plane was already delayed at the time of departure. The conditions of that day were not the best. There was a freezing snow in Nome that significantly reduces visibility. The temperature in Nome is currently – 10 degrees Celsius. According to CNN, the aircraft was equipped with a specialized search and rescue transmitter.
The search campaign is underway
There were a total of ten people on board the machine: nine passengers and a pilot. State police immediately announced the start of the search campaign. Actions in this difficult terrain are mainly carried out by the local Volunteer Fire Brigade. At the same time, they were appealed to civilians not to create their own search groups for fear of their safety in bad conditions.
